Our Challenges
The Challenge We Are Solving
Finans4Alle works to make the Norwegian finance industry more diverse by helping job seekers with multicultural backgrounds enter the industry — and by supporting those already in finance as they advance in their careers.
Today, diversity in Norwegian finance is still extremely limited.
A survey by Finansforbundet shows that only 6% of employees in the industry have a non-Norwegian background, and most come from other Nordic or Western European countries.
A more recent Finansforbundet study (2025) found that among the top five banks and insurance companies in Norway, only one employee had a multicultural background.
These numbers highlight a clear reality:
Talent exists, but equal opportunities do not.
Finans4Alle is here to bridge that gap — by empowering multicultural job seekers, challenging structural barriers, and advocating for a more inclusive finance industry.

WHAT WE DO
Finans4Alle aims to make the Norwegian finance industry more diverse by supporting job seekers with non- Norwegian backgrounds in breaking into the industry — and by helping those already in the industry climb the career ladder.
According to a survey by Finansforbundet, only 6% of employees in the Norwegian finance industry have a non Norwegian background, and the majority of these are from other Nordic or Western European countries.
Another recent Finansforbundet survey (2025) found that among the top five banks and insurance companies in Norway, only one employee had a non-Norwegian background.
The Drivers
• Through research and lived experience, the Finans4Alle team has identified several key barriers preventing greater diversity in Norway’s finance industry:
• Lack of professional networks
• Limited work experience in Norway
• Employer mistrust of academic credentials from non-Norwegian candidates
• Negative biases and stereotypes toward job seekers with multicultural backgrounds
• Poor integration of multicultural employees in the workplace once hired
• Limited awareness and reflection among employers regarding the lack of diversity — and a low
willingness to challenge the status quo

Our Story
The Finans4Alle Story
Finans4Alle was founded by Christian Kongolo Kongolo following the challenges he faced while applying for jobs in Norway’s finance industry—despite graduating with top grades from a globally ranked top-100 business school.
Throughout his job search, Christian felt that his skills and qualifications were often overlooked because of his name and ethnicity. The experience left him feeling distraught, stressed, and rejected. Although it was a difficult period in his life, he refused to let these setbacks cloud his confidence or limit his potential.
In time, Christian realized that he was not alone—many non- ethnic Norwegians were facing similar barriers to entry in the Norwegian finance sector. He made a personal promise: once he succeeded in breaking into the industry, he would use his knowledge, experience, and network to help others with non-Norwegian backgrounds pursue their ambitions in finance.
Christian fulfilled that promise by launching Finans4Alle in November 2021. Since then, the Finans4Alle team has supported over 100 job seekers, helping them gain valuable insights into how the Norwegian finance industry operates, connecting them finance professionals, and advocating for employers to create more inclusive recruitment processes for job seekers of diverse backgrounds.
Our story is only just beginning—and with your support and engagement, we are confident that together we can build a more diverse and inclusive finance industry in Norway

Annual Diversity Survey
We believe that many employers in Norway’s finance industry overlook the lack of diversity and are reluctant to
challenge the status quo.
To address this, Finans4Alle conducts an annual survey to understand the experiences of multicultural job seekers — both in the application process and once employed.
The insights from these surveys are used to highlight the challenges faced by multicultural professionals, spark meaningful conversations with employers, and develop lasting solutions that promote a more
inclusive finance industry.

What Our
Mentees Say

Jeni Mei
BSc Mathematics and Statistical Science @UCL
I very much enjoyed Finans4Alle’s mentor program. Through an initial talk with my mentor, we mapped the areas that I needed assistance on and during the program we worked diligently to equip me with the tools needed to get a job in Finance.
My mentor was good at introducing me to other relevant people in his network and really did an amazing job in providing me with insights into the Financial industry in Norway. I enjoyed the program so much that I’d like to attend again!
